Understanding the GI Bill 2.0
Veterans that enlisted in the military (Army, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, National Guard, and Air Force) post 9/11/2001 could qualify for the GI Bill 2.0. Based upon the number of months served qualifies Veterans for funding towards their advanced education, housing and supplies. The BI Bill 2.0 will cover 36 months of secondary education and financial coverage for school is based on the total months served as shown below:

Additionally, your “rate of pursuit” also affects your final benefits. To see an example, see below:
EXAMPLE: Individuals attending Training To YOU (TTY) cost $8,000+ for Full Time (minimum of 18 hours a week) education each certification. The monthly housing allowance for the zip code that TTY resides in is $1272.
Individuals who served at least 36 months on active duty (eligible for 100% of benefit) and who attend TTY Full Time would receive:
- Up to 100% for tuition and fees not to exceed $17,500 a year (paid directly to TTY);
- A monthly housing allowance of $1272 (100% due to Rate of Pursuit) per month (while pursuing education); and
- Up to $86 monthly for book stipend for each certification that the individual is enrolled.
Individuals who served at least 24 months on active duty (eligible for 80% of benefit) and who attend TTY Full Timewould receive:
- Up to 80% of the tuition and fees not to exceed 80% of $14,000 a year (paid to TTY);
- A monthly housing allowance of $1017 (80%) per month (while pursuing education); and
- $200 book stipend for each certification that the individual is enrolled.
